My new camera and printer combo review

I finally did it. I traded in my basic frustrating point and shoot for a DSLR. I'm so excited! And a week before that my fancy schmancy printer broke. I got an awesome deal on Amazon where you get a $400 rebate if you buy two Canon products. I am now the proud new owner of a Canon EOS Rebel (yes that is the cheapest DSLR, thank you!) and a Canon PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II Inkjet Photo Printer . Woot! (I seriously wish they'd pay me for this stuff...)

Anyway, I played around with my camera yesterday and here's my first shot. It's not terribly exciting because it's jewelry, but this is one main reason I got the camera. Look at the nice blur I got. That's not even photoshopped. I have no idea how to use the camera yet really, but it's quite wonderful. For me, I don't really see a need to get a more expensive camera. The printer is gigantic and wide-format. That's important to me as a graphic designer. I'm excited to print out some graphics and patterns for mood boards.

I'd also like to give a special shout out to FedEx. I can't thank you enough for LEAVING A $500 PRINTER IN THE DOORWAY OF OUR APARTMENT BUILDING ON A SATURDAY NIGHT. You're so special. It was the weekend of Halloween so luckily a zombie told us.

  1. A good digital camera makes such a difference. That being said, I've had mine more than two years and I still get confused when I try to do anything "fancy." lol. Your first photo looks great!

  2. Hehe thanks! I'm having trouble with auto, lol! I'm having better luck using it manual. If I could only figure out how to set the white balance, there is where my current trouble lies.

  7. I've had my Rebel for about four...?...years now, and I still love her. She's like an extension of my right hand! Great photo and I love the necklace!

  9. Hi Michelle,
A fellow BYW'er finally popping over. I'm so happy that you did this for yourself. I'm also in the market for a new camera (that darn BYW course ;), so hope you keep us posted on how things go. So far, so good I would say.
    All the best,
    Theresa
