Seed packet design-Inspired by nature

I've never been much of a gardener, but I love plants. I love going to the botanical gardens and the arboretum. Alas, my thumb is pale, not green. I wince when I think about all the cold plant carcasses I've had to dispose of. However...I'm really into succulents right now and I feel like they are impossible to kill. But, I'm sure I'll find a way.

And to my point-I love the look of old-fashioned seed packets. I find them so inspiring. Vintage or new, they are brimming with vibrant color and lovely illustrations. The following seed packets are of my own design. I created simple illustrations for them and printed them on a natural-looking recycled paper.

  1. I've always wanted to grow lavender, I think it's so beautiful. But it's a little too wet to grow it here. But I love planting wildflowers!

  2. Wow, those are beautiful! I don't think I've tried growing anything from a seed since we grew grass in preschool, though.

  3. Thanks ladies! I tried to grow some basil from seeds once, and I got a little sprout, but it was all down hill from there!

  4. Oh, the design and packaging on these packets are really beautiful. The craft paper is a wonderful touch. AND, great photos and layout! Yup, I'm with you, succulents are the way to go for us brown thumbs (much prettier than cacti).

  5. Hi Michelle,
I was in the BYW course and am now following your blog. I am still in the process of getting mine going. I can't decided if I should be on Blogger or Wordpress. You have a beautiful blog.

  6. Thanks! It's definitely my most favorite project I've done. It was fun adding the little bugs too. :-) I looove the look of succelents! They are like a little green non-dying flower.

Thanks Lana! Good luck! Let me know when you get going, I'd love to take a look. I don't know anything about Wordpress, but lots of people seem to like it. I just picked one and this was convenient since I use my gmail all the time.

  10. Michelle these are sooooooooooo sweet! I love love! I am growing basil on my window ledge...that's all I can manage...I keep killing it and then giving it water and it keeps coming back...until I forget about it and it dies again! Poor basil!
